[CDATA[Have you been enjoying 2009 so far? How could you not? It's a real treat to see 2008 go. What to do now, though. I've got a suggestion for the second day of the year: Strawberry Fields, featuring former members of <--quote#right-->Broadway's Beatlemania, tonight at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill. This look-a-like, sound-a-like Beatles tribute is dedicated to bringing you as close to a real Beatles concert as you can get. They take you on a Magical Mystery Tour beginning in 1964 complete with mop top hair, black suits with thin ties & the first four albums of music. Next stop, 1967, features the psychedelic era of "Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" album with all the costumes & jackets on the album cover. The last stop includes: "White Album", "Abbey Road", & "Let It Be". B.B. King Blues Club and Grill, New York, NY. Fri, Jan 2, 2009 12:00 PM]]

[CDATA[Toronto's Crystal Castles give their world-renowned tweak, twirl and blip, Chuck-friendly material the sweaty New Year's experience tonight. The heavy-traveling Castles have remixed everyone from Bloc Party and Klaxons to Little Ones and toured with CSS and the Presets. Taking a break from world domination, they play a gig at the Music Hall. It will be a fantastically sweaty and clean-dirty show, replete with hearts-aflutter, asymmetrical-hair kids in faux-combat boots; awesome. Full New Year's Eve Listings. -S.T.]]

[CDATA[Mules continue to make social progress. Originally used as a four-legged Sherpa, then upgraded to drug smuggler, the mule has finally made it to government. To celebrate, he plays in a jam band. Crazy mule. The long-running combo, Gov't Mule, has been churning out southern fried jam sessions for well over a decade. In these days of jam shortage (whatever happened to Phish?), Gov't Mule keeps the long-tune, granola-placation alive. They play a two-night stand at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Bring your own PB.]]

[CDATA[The best Ukrainian gypsy cabaret art punk band in the history of Ukrainian gypsy cabaret art punk, Gogol Bordello play Webster Hall tonight. Fronted by friend of Madonna, occasional actor, muse, and moustache enthusiast, Eugene Hutz, the Bordello is a Brooklyn-based collective. Known for raucousness and ebullience, they have been destroying clubs and theatres around the world. I barely missed them on a boat in Budapest and I've been kicking myself ever since. Webster may not be a Hungarian boat, but you can expect combers of aural joy. I can't say this enough: go!]]

[CDATA[Occasionally, sub-par flicks or foul weather make it difficult to convince people to head out to the cinema (remember February?). However, in late early winter the watchful eyes of a golden bald man make the task simple. Familiar comedies and big budget action flicks faded as snowdrifts began to cover crumpled leaves. Prestige pics and post-Fest(s) curios have at last hit theatres. The best time of year to be a cinephile has commenced. Here is what you should see.]]
