[CDATA[You probably donÂ’t realize it, but you are a fan of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard. They are a five-man comedy team who formed in college before going on to have a successful career in film. Broken Lizard is comprised of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Hefferman, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske. The group wrote, directed, and starred in the film Puddle Cruiser while they were still students at Colgate University, but never got a proper release for the film until after their later success (much like Trey Parker and Matt StoneÂ’s brilliant student feature Cannibal: The Musical). However, their second independently produced film turned them into comedy celebrities. ]]

[CDATA[In the internet age, the deluge of easily accessible music has led to an aural glut. Though it sounds nice, the overabundance can cause worthy records to get lost in the shuffle. Last week I looked at 2008's Most Overrated Records. A new year has dawned and I'm feeling altruistic; thus, I'll rescue some overlooked highlights. Here are the Most Underrated Records of 2008. ]]

[CDATA[As the award nominations pile up for the best films of 2008, one movie has been surprisingly ignored. The Dark Knight was undoubtedly the biggest film of the year and the first comic book movie to ever feature enough depth to warrant some awards consideration. When it was released in the summer critics around the globe said that it could be the first superhero movie to ever receive a little Oscar love and yet the movie has been out of the running of most best picture races so far. ]]

[CDATA[You’ve really got to hand it to HBO. Since debuting in the 70s, the cable network has done everything they can to reinvent television. First they brought uncut violent movies and porn into the homes of America (thank god!). Then they started to create television programming for adults that had no limits and refused to pander to the lowest common demoninator. The unflinching realism and naughty language of The Larry Sanders Show changed TV comedy forever, while Curb Your Enthusiasm finally gave Larry David a place to let his imagination flow uncensored. Shows like The Sopranos, Deadwood, and The Wire proved that TV drama didn’t need to be the bastard son of cinema, it could be something even more compelling than was being shown on the big screen. Hell, they even gave Bill Maher a new home after he famously became the first person fired for 9/11. The network’s slogan is “It’s not TV, it’s HBO” and it has to be one of the only network slogan on TV that’s actually a accurate representation of the channel rather than a shrewd marketing gimmick. ]]

[CDATA[Largely, 2008 was a fantastic year for music. Any annum that sees a TV on the Radio release and a Portishead re-emergence is a good one. The Pitchfork generation continued to churn out surprising masterpieces from newcomers, from Fleet Foxes' beautiful self-titled debut to Titus Andronicus's raucous The Airing of Grievances. There were disappointments (Bloc Party's Intimacy) along the way but, in general, aural pleasure was had by all. However, it wouldn't be December if I didn't write something snide. With that said, here's a look at The Year's Most Overrated Records. ]]

[CDATA[IÂ’m sure everyone out there is far more excited about the potential debauchery that they have planned for tonight than they are about movie news, but there is one little nugget worth sharing today. So, take a little time out of your busy New Years Eve to appreciate a little casting swap thatÂ’s gone on in Hollywood. Talented young actor Mark Ruffalo recently underwent a personal tragedy that is causing him to put his burgeoning acting career on hold. RuffaloÂ’s brother Scot was shot outside of his Beverly Hills home recently under mysterious circumstances and thatÂ’s certainly enough reason to take a break from work.]]

[CDATA[The tuxedo emerges as a highly versatile signature piece for New Years Eve. This night always puts a big spotlight on black-tie fashion, but earlier this year formalwear already received plenty of attention. Seriously - menswear was more exciting than restaurant industry this year, with designers showing a wide array of formal pieces in iconoclastic combinations. But you need to know your stuff; anyone can dress up in a designer tuxedo yet still not have it. There are a few simple style rules to follow when it comes to any black tie event: Keep it black and don't stray too far from the classics.]]

[CDATA[Hopefully youÂ’re not a big fan of the Chronicles Of Narnia films, because if so your heart is about to be broken. After only adapting two books in C.S. LewisÂ’ infamous fantasy franchise, Disney is dropping out of the series. Disney has been co-producing the films with the Walden Media, but have decided not to continue the partnership due to creative differences and financial disappointment. ]]
