| urbo on Adelaide Street West is now Sound Emporium on Richmond Street West (same location, different entrance.) Design scheme is basically the same, with the re-arrangement of the DJ-station and adjusting the room. About the new entrance; to give the illusion of a new club, the entrance is no longer at the front (Adelaide) but at the back alley entrance (Richmond) Main level at Sound Emporium finds disco and funk, while downstairs at Klinik, pounds with progressive dance, techno and house. Sound Emporium has re-positioned the sound booth to another corner so that its nicely accessible. Clubkids can toss out requests or simply marvel at the deejay's technique, being guest DJs on any given Saturday night. Back corner: This is the real party, back here. fine dance music, congenial vibes and a vast space allow a surprisingly diverse crowd to create an ambiance reminiscent of Warehouse parties. Yet due to Sound Emporium's crowd turnover, there's less club-floor energy. Saturday nights especially, attract a mixed bag of well-tended, budding divas, club kid posses and the requisite smattering of ravers on the loose. Those committed to party will feel right at home here. In one corner, twenty somethings in DePaul caps huddle together and guzzle down lemon-drop shots. In another corner, a girl in Banana Republic and a guy in Gap enjoy Molson X on a leisurely first date. Reader Reviews |
