ith so many cool club venues in Clubland, it's quite a challenge for a spot to distinguish itself and maintain a steady fan base. The mood, movers and shakers inside Pearl Lounge prove that this bar is up for that challenge. Whether you're yearning to settle into the sofas with your friends, listen to cutting-edge grooves or gaze at the funky scenery, Pearl Lounge could be one great option.

That's the feeling the owners wanted to create when they redesigned the space. Hip elegance extending from bar to washrooms. It's all wrapped in tasteful shades of gold and silver. With its themed bars (more on this later), huge cubicled washrooms to the Versace lighting covering the entire level, it's surprisingly warm, friendly and comfortable. The lighting throughout the lounge is low and intimate with sporadically hung glass fixtures.

And the bars: there are ten throughout the space, from the champagne and VIP bars, to the express and live band bars, all stops were taken to reduce any lineup traffic. With a capacity of 540, and half the city’s older club crowd dying to gain entry, these touches are appreciated.

On the front, a curving ivory couch covers one of the more interesting club areas -- a raised lounge compartment, complete with go-go dancing podiums -- which makes for good discussion. The centre of the room includes a plush roped-off VIP area with couches and coffee tables. At the back, another room is ready to get down with live talent, with a sound system engineered not to compete with the heavy beats of the dance room.

Pearl has a weekly lineup already: Thursday is Catwalk, a fashion industry - could you not guess - night. Friday sees house, commercial, disco sounds. And Saturday gets down with old school with Jimmy Jenn and Billy ( B&A Associates).

Its vogue, upscale image drips with the aura that you're somebody just by being there. If the people aren't colorful or beautiful enough, venture over to the live band area and you'll encounter another doorman and another guest list. Sit back and watch the waitstaff bring and clear tray after tray of champagne, bourbon or vodka.

I'm one of the DJ's (COSTES) in the back room at Pearl, spinning with Bobby K and every Saturday night gets better and better with B&A promoting Pearl....If you havn't been there as yet, make the effort, and you will not regret....come by the back room and say hi, were always happy to hear from the people.....

Whoa where has this place been? And why did I just find out about it ? I went on Saturday night and the crowd was fabulous the music was great and the men were hot !!! I think I just found my new home.

I went to opening night. They (owners) have made an ambitious attempt at creating an upscale environ, however, there is no cohesion to the decor. It looks as if they asked six different interior designers to pick a part of the lounge and go to it. Each corner of the bar looks different. It's a mish mash of fabrics and accents. The music was good, drinks a little pricey, people were pretentious. I don't think I'll go back.

I had fun on the opening night, But the real fun didn’t begin ‘til the next visit. The place was just as packed, and the crowd looked ten times better. Great Vibe!
