The finished concrete dance floor surrounds the bar, and if you look closely, you’ll see hints of a map of Russia... aah, the mantra of the insecure with a surplus of time, their parents' money, and a communications degree. People, it's just a club. Albeit, a damn good one.   In an age of flashy club and lounge scenes, more emphasis is on the money and beautiful people and less on longevity. NYC, however, which is the baby on the block, could be around a while. A very red and no-frills subterranean space in the heart of Clubland central, NYC has been a smart investment for the boys behind the wheel. Not only is it currently being hailed as being the most comfortable atmosphere in Toronto, it welcomes you with 20 of the world's greatest vodkas. This bar borders on a high-end hangout but without the snootiness. The big cushy booths can easily pack in you and eight of your friends. Deejays are the stars down here. NYC has a good roster of spin stars; locally, and from other exotic places. They also boast a solid lineup of house favorites, spinning a cool blend of funky House, Classic House and plenty of R&B depending on the night. NYC now opens its doors for the after-work cocktail crowd (read 4:30pm). During the week the bar serves up its roster of over twenty of the world's greatest vodkas. From the staff to the people it seemed the opposite of Red Boutique around the corner. Very, very friendly and zero attitude. Everyone was sooo approachable and an over 25 very cool crowd. Great areas in the club for a party. The interior was very warm and sexy. This is my new hangout. Love the 65% women. And very hot women at that!! Koodos to the management. Solid.
