| utside Money, you can feel the thump, see the walls flex with every beat. Inside a propulsive blend of freestyle, classic-house and acid-jazz commands the attention of the various dance floors as the sweat-soaked mob writhes and twists, screaming the name of the DJ wreaking holy hell on the 'tables: Mark Oliver! Welcome to the dance party known as Mint! Imagine a club with the creative vision to offer its inhabitants such an exclusive party space, and then stealing another club's prized Friday nights. You'll thank your lucky stars you've found a place where anything can happen--and often does. If a nightlife venue wants to keep things sparking, it had better prove itself a polymorphous beast, which Money is a serious contender. While other clubs (notably, much of the nearby club scene) showcase up-and-coming resident acts, Money owners have a stayfresh secret: They have a revolving roster of club promoters to actualize their myriad after-dark schemes. The Mark Oliver Friday night lineup at This Is London has been moved to Money to mix things up a bit. Off to a shaky start, but since the early February change, Clublands battle for ownership of Friday nights has taken a serious turn. The Money crowd is much the same on the two dance levels, but the This Is London crowd (this includes the clubbers, DJ, barstaff) have all relocated for all future Friday Nights. This leaves This is London with Saturday Night openings only, and leaves Money with serious contender Friday nights. A massive place with an impressive decor, boasting new renovations to the club on all three levels, including a floating DJ Booth, pulling in a crowd that's mostly quite mainstream. It's such an incredible space that it deserves at least one visit. Head for the Mark Oliver level, which feature more interesting music, decor and people. The new night is called "Mint" and should attract a whole new Money crowd - on one level at least. Review this club Read Reader Reviews |
