armony Lounge is easy to miss, looming in the shadows of Butt’r Lounge. And it remains signless (save for a flyer taped to the door) making it appear to be a vacant location from the street. But when the heavy glass door parts the way to a postindustrial but cozy space, it’s evident that we will be entirely in Harmony’s well-manicured hands.

The Harmony mission was to offer not just another cocktail lounge setting in the heart of the throbbing College Strip, but to provide a (downtempo) music-driven space to encourage nightlife juices to flow. In order to do this, the street noise level had to be brought down a shade. This was accomplished by installing a vacuum-sealed, double paneled (two panes of glass with an air pocket in between) glass front to replace what was once a garage door store front.

Within the confines of the now traffic-noise-free bar is a dark time capsule separated into two rooms (and a back patio is on its way). You can recharge your batteries at an oak bar surrounded by bar stools. The front lounge area continues with The hotel generation theme - Dali-esque tables accompanied with puffy hotel-lounge chairs.

Further down is another area, which is where Harmony’s music station is set up. With guest DJs given license to drive anything and everything from their vast collection, you’ll at times hear the best in underground downtempo, and at times, the worst. With DJs Johanus Grant and Duo Tang, on their slotted nights, it’s safe to say music hounds will be in good hands.
Even when there's not a party going on, Harmony has sexy allure. DJs spin electronic magic while, smartly dressed scenesters lounge on puffy chairs and drink in the room's ever-changing music installation.

Naturally, it's up to this bar to hold its own against other venues in this area. In the hopes of luring the thirsty but terribly fickle cocktail crowd with its sheer fabulousness, places like Harmony and Beba currently add to the next generation of College Strip nightlife (the neighbouring once-hot Butt’r is already for sale). Harmony is such a bundle of contemporary tics that its Clubland individuality doesn’t get lost on the black turtleneck College Strip crowd. DE
