Bonjour Brioche

Complete list

ike an upscale brother to Hello Toast, Bonjour Brioche is one of the best deals in Riverdale. The name means "Hello Toast," and consider this a wake-up call to the wonderful breakfast food found at this superb eatery in Leslieville.

With the introduction of cute eateries like Hello Toast, Ten Twenty Five Inc., and Bonjour Brioche, the east end has made it a place people actually want to be.

Bonjour Brioche is the upscale alternative to the well-worn and comfortable Hello Toast, one of the hottest brunch spots in town. Yet, Bonjour can hold it's own; this quaint, homespun patisserie is bright and breezy, crisp and simple with floral tablecloths, attracting a comfortable Riverdale crowd. Great breads and pastries are baked on the premises in an open kitchen.

The menu offers interesting breakfast choices, that won't break the wallet. Gourmet sandwiches are $4.25 to $5.75, croque Madame, $7.50. The omelette Provençal, with tomato, green onion, black olives, rosemary and gruyere cheese. Provençal omelette with tomato, The baked French toast -- a tall wedge of moist, egg-soaked bread laced with cinnamon and baked with a crunchy sugary dusting is always a great choice.

Enjoy a seat al fresco - you won't have much choice as there are only a few tables indoors. If the place is busy, order quickly, because peak periods can bring peak delays. The food is good enough to bring customers back. After all this comfort, you may think you'll skip dessert, but the lemon tart with ultra flaky crust is worth the extra splurge. - Aaron Jacobs

The real problem is...

The service at Bonjour Brioche just plain stinks. They're the worst!
Sunday brunch is always busy, so when you walk in don't expect anyone to approach you. You have to ask them for a table. The entire staff just seems overworked or disinterested in being too friendly to customers. They're already too busy, why not turn off a few people, right? The real problem is that the restaurant serves a great brunch menu. I really like the food. Everything tastes so fresh and buttery. Don't expect a hungry man meal, fare is on the lighter side. To sum it up, I recommend Brioche highly for brunch, especially if you can get a seat on the patio. You're less likely to get abused out there.

Cozy & cash only

That's right, they don't take credit cards. And, on Sunday if there are more than 2 of you, bring a paper, your good nature and be prepared to wait awhile. There are not many tables to seat 4 people. This place is cozy, local and now that its gotten to be so well known, we hope the newcomers will please be friendly and patient too. Plus, the crew serving are so cheerful amidst the crush of hungry diners!

Too steep and not enough Meat...

Being from Anchorage I know when I have paid to much for a simple breakfast. I ordered the "omelette Provençal". What bothered me was the fact the omelete was not done. I let the server know.. and was told "yea, they are really busy today", then he walked off without refilling our coffee or offering to. Besides that my breakfast was soupy and cold. My disappointment didn't end there. I thought I was used to paying for overly priced breakfasts being from Alaska, but this restaurant took the cake. Over ten dollars per person for a cold, no meat, no coffe refill, very dissappointing breakfast. I wish I would have gone somewhere else.
