his Yorkville dance club, with mirrored walls and a roped off VIP lounge reserved for patrons who order $85 bottles of Moet, caters to a combination of large-livin' Latinos and inner-city slackers and big name out-of-towners. Latina and African-American women dress to impress, then hang conspicuously at the bar waiting to be approached. Once invited, they dance the night away to the likes of Lil' Kim, Jay-Z, Ce CE Peniston and a plethora of current Latin musicians Ba-Ba-Lus, pretty much fits the bill as your stereotypical club lounge, transplanted in Yorkville. Dim lighting, and slightly overpriced drinks will make the Torontonians feel right at home; Oh! Except that is, for the big you talkin to me" vibe, which the whole place instills. As they say, you can take the old Markham away from the Goumbas, but you cant take the old Goumbas away from Markham. Tables and seating , and even standing room is sometimes limited. Ba-Ba-Lus is certainly worth trying out. The Euro design, mood-enhancing colour scheme and good music certainly brings out the best in Yorkville, though attitude is sometimes in abundance. The space pulsates with a mostly Latin rhythm selection bouncing off the walls. Ba-Ba-Lus bar, surrounded by casual boys and girls equal parts, Dockers and Lycra throughout most nights. The wait staff do a fine job hyping the joint. Besides being friendly, they're not too hard on the eyes. Oh, one more thing, make sure you have enough dough for the drinks. They don't come cheap.
