606

Complete list

idnight at 606, and all is frenzied. Lycra-wrapped beauty editors, 905-area-code warriors, and downtown darlings bustle wherever they have room. Uptown girls teeter on their Pumas - just bought for tonight - in hopes of snaring the bartender’s attention.

It’s not always like this at 606; some nights you could very well have the place all to yourself and sometimes it’s SRO. Curiously, like a built-in radar setting off an alarm, 606’s regulars know the exact moment to join the ongoing party. A well-oiled party machine this bar is, working hard to keep the rhythm and a plan to serve its community.

Seamlessness and rhythm don't happen overnight. If it does happen, it’s a constant battle keeping it. 606 has somehow kept that rhythm for 11 years. In club years, a decade of drawing a crowd deserves a lifetime achievement award.

That crowd, in general, is primarily composed of suburbanites, recent college grads and the pre-destination crowd. Also, 606 gets spillover from the newer spots in the area and from the club district.

There is a notoriously loyal - and attractive - following here. Those who flock here have flocked here for years. There's a growing after-work contingent coming here, too. "It's the young professionals that want to take it easy after work," says a 27-year-old guy at the bar. "I live in Rosedale, but my friends in the area hang out here on a daily basis," he says.

606 is built to survive take anything it’s crowd gives; the floor is cement; the service bar is built to withstand any number of dancers (on many nights, you’ll witness exactly that) and the walls are concrete, built to outlast any given party.

Mixed drinks and domestic beer are king here, with margaritas and martinis of every stripe leading the pack. This is a late-night partyspot, and it's pretty much the only one of its kind in the neighbourhood. As for food, 606 has a round-the-world menu that won’t break the bank; steak sandwiches, 606 burgers, Burritos and Quesidillas, and the like. But it’s fun food, and if you’re sitting at 606, that’s why you’re here.

Upshot: thy name is 606, so idle up to the bar and liquor it up in high style with practically any drink your little liver can imagine. – Don Ellis.

a mean drink

Great place in (overly?) trendy king West area. Nice to actually see
value for money in this neighbourhood. Fun, friendly staff who put on a good show while bartending and make a mean drink.

NO ATTITUDE

I like this bar. NO ATTITUDE rare for Toronto nightlife, music is better Fridays then Saturdays, lotsa nice good looking ladies hanging at the main bar, (although I suspect they were more interested in the male staff) the drinks are fairly priced, has a vibrant atmosphere, everyone looks like they are having a great time!

best looking

From Bartenders to Security, the absolute best looking and "together" staff in the city.

Simply the best for a chilled evening or for totally crazed fun. 606 is the place to do it right.

Just about anything your little body desires.

I consider 606 to be a rare treasure, especially in its part of town. So when i found out about it 4 years ago, I never looked back. The feeling of the place is eclectic yet urban, sophisticated but unpretentious. Wonderful pieces of local art are always displayed on the walls. The food is delicious and the service welcoming and friendly. You can wear just about anything your little body desires without feeling like singled out. I've yet got to try out the new patio which I think was a wise addition to the restaurant. You have to try this place at least once!

Very nice to see my drinking grounds honoured here. I have been using 606 as my personal party grounds for over five years now. Great fun, and great drink. Haven’t tried the patio yet, but the day’s still young.
