 | Tom Collins"Live in my house, I'll be your shelter."
-Tom Collins from Rent
An old trustworthy favourite, Tom Collins is always there for you. Subtle, refined, and eminent, it has a playfulness that belies its distinguished moniker. It was the first legal drink I ever had and, thus, its name evokes a wave of imbibing nostalgia. This twist on the classic recipe adds summer-friendly fruit (orange and cherry) to the paradigm, upping the invigoration quotient without entirely overhauling the drink, New Coke-style.
Ingredients:
2 oz. Gin
1 slice of Orange
1 Cherry
1 tsp. Powdered Sugar
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
Carbonated Water
Shake gin, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a Collins glass. Add several ice cubes, fill with carbonated water, and stir.
Decorate with slices of orange, lemon, and top with the cherry. Serve with a straw. |
