 | CasablancaFamiliarity breeds contempt. That's why relationships don't last and Brandon Walsh comes across as a dick. Similarly, viewers don't have the affinity for Victor Laszlo that they do for Rick Blaine. Why? Because Laszlo is expected to be good and his heroics are boring; he can only let you down. Conversely, Rick has the Falstaff-era Henry V thing going for him: because no one presumes he will do the right thing, any vaguely noble act is heightened in importance. Coconut milk is the anti-hero of this cocktail. Rum, pineapple juice, and even grenadine are used extensively in booze mixing, but not coconut milk. You don't expect it to work, so it does. The result: a shockingly cohesive and refreshing concoction.
Ingredients:
1 oz. (2 tbsp.) rum
3 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. (2 tbsp.) coconut milk
1-1/2 tsp. grenadine
Ice cubes Slice of lime for garnish
Slice of pineapple for garnish
Place all ingredients except the fruit garnish in a shaker and shake well. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with the slices of lime and pineapple. |
