ow that Oliver Stone’s George Bush biopic has finally been released, we know that it’s not just a goofy comedy mocking the former president. No, the movie is far more complicated and layered than that, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still room in the world for more silly George Bush mocking. If anything there is a void left that W. was supposed to fill. Fortunately, Will Ferrell is going to step in and fill in the gap.
Ferrell was Saturday Night Live’s resident George Bush impressionist during his tenure at the show and did a brilliant job of mocking the president's all too repetitive verbal and physical ticks. However, ever since he left the show his Bush impersonation has been sadly absent from pulp culture (although the protagonist of Talladega Nights was pretty close). However, those days are over. Will Ferrell is breaking his Bush impression out of retirement…and he’s taking it to Broadway.
Will Ferrell will be starring in a Broadway show about everyone’s least favourite president
That’s right, Will Ferrell will be starring in a Broadway show about everyone’s least favourite president entitled Your Welcome America. The play will be co-written by Ferrell along with Adam McKay, who will also direct (the pair have done the same duties on Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers). No information about the plot or supporting cast has been released yet, but there’s no denying that this has the potential to be an astoundingly hilarious show. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the following clip and remind yourself of how amazing Will Ferrell’s George Bush truly was:
