Arrogant trash merchant Uwe Boll wants to adapt Grand Theft Auto into a movie

21 Jump Street was arguably the most stereotypical 80s television show to come out of the 80s. The series hit all the fashion clichés, boasted a synch-heavy soundtrack, and had a typically half-baked high-concept plot line. The show launched the career of Johnny Depp as a member of an elite squad of young undercover police officers infiltrating high schools, but did nothing else to positively contribute to society. The series is long forgotten now, except in the minds of unwavering 80s nostalgics. But that’s about to change because 21 Jump Street is about to get the big screen treatment.

While it’s shocking to learn that big wigs in Hollywood actually consider this movie to be a good idea, what’s even more surprising is who has been assigned to making this film a reality. The hefty and hilarious actor Jonah Hill has signed on to write and produce the project. This is the first time the Superbad star has assumed writing duties and he seems like a very odd choice. 21 Jump Street was always a show filled with underage eye-candy designed to appeal to vacant teens looking for pretty faces to brighten up their day. While quite entertaining in his own right, Hill certainly doesn’t seem like he will fit into that world, which suggests the movie could be more of a campy The Brady Bunch Movie-style parody. He’s an undeniably odd choice, but Hill has been on a role as of late, so perhaps he has a clever plan for a 21 revival. Hopefully, that’s true because a 21 Jump Street movie that’s true to the source material would be a vomit-inducing disaster.
