  • Guinness Recipes

Got your creative hat on? No need; here are a slew of Guinness recipes that I’ve stolen from various pubs around the city, all sampled by yours truly and categorized cleverly.

    The Traditional Mixes:
Black and Tan: this one’s easy: half Guinness, half ale (something dark, like Bass Ale, is best)

Half and Half: Like the tan, but use a pale lager instead.

    The “Been Banned:”
Snakebite: ¾ Harp Lager and ¼ Cider. Okay, this doesn’t have Guinness in it, but it was worthy of including seeing as it was banned in the United Kingdom. Guess it really does carry a bite.

    The Unexpected:
Black Velvet: Guinness and champagne; seriously.

    The Huh?:
Purple Meany: Black and Tan with a shot of Raspberry Liquer (I personally think if you’re gonna try this kind of thing, use Cassis)

The Shot with the Most Offensive Name (really, the IRA is so proud, I’m sure):
Irish Car Bomb: Half a shot of Jameson’s with half a shot of Bailey’s, dropped into half a pint. It's total chaos.

The Shot With the Best Name Ever:
Backfire on the Freeway: 2 oz of Bacardi 151 dropped into half a pint.

The “Can You DO That to Beer?” Award:
Black and Brown: half Guinness, half root beer. Yep.

    The Surprisingly Delicious Winner:
Christmas Pudding: 1 oz Southern Comfort, 1 oz Drambuie, then top the glass with Guinness.

    “The I'm Not Wearing Underwear:"
Guinness Shandy: 1/2 - 3/4 Guinness topped up with Lemonade

    Night Ender:
Miner’s Lung: 3oz Vodka (3 shots!!!) poured into a pint
