    Avocado Fresh Mexican Grill

The home of this quasi-Mexican parlor, though still in the land of Ikea and Fatburger, is worlds away from the Deerfoot Meadows neighbourhood it occupies. The plates are substantially large, the food serviceable, and the service, well, iffy.

A simply adorned décor gives off a rustic, open, welcoming feel. Avocado, divided into a small lounge and main dining room (pit and fruit), has appropriately avocado-coloured booths and banquettes. The general aesthetics may sound drab on paper, but in person, it's quite playful (though slightly lacking in the soul department).

Have been twice. Was seated promptly.
Menu eclecticc. Not real Mexican, more fusion and adapted to modern times.
I loved the tomato bean tortilla soup. Came back for a second taste. One can get it meal sized or 1/2'd.
Chips were Ok and salsa was good, more like pico de gallo.
Burritos not particularly memorable, other than the fillings, especially meat were skimpey.
Avocado salad with raisins and walnuts was not one of those "I have to have it again" entrees. However, walnuts are very fresh and not bitter!
They only have one kind of coffee. A Mexican blend. I think they just make expresso and add hot water like cafe americano. It costs $2.50 and there are no refills. There should be another option for coffee and they should have decaf.
The sweet potatoe fries are delicious.

The soup and the fries will bring me back when I am in the area!

Seated promptly - check...the rest of the dinner was downhill from there. The waitress mixed up my order, told chef and plopped salad in front of me with the main missing and not as so much as a sorry. We got the bill which was way over priced and feel like I could have just went to Tacotime and felt more satisfied.

Hi. The food was Great, I had their Ranchero Burrito (wow). My wife had the fiesta Salad and loved it. This place is not your traditional mexican restaurant. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants something different then rice and beans on their plate.

Wow, this place is my new favorite place to eat! Too bad there aren't more locations in the city! My favorite thing is the Ranchero Burrito and the sweet potato fries. It's only been open about a year I think and I went there once at the beginning. Since then it's way better. Great place to go for a beer and nachos after shopping at Ikea!

Extremely disappointing, especially when the bill comes to more than $65, no alcohol was drunk and three people are still hungry.

The snotty host sat us at a non descript table, with MTV blazing on one wall and miscellaneous baseball on another - distracting enough without the weird echoes coming from various parts of the restaurant and the "beep beep beep" of some kitchen appliance every other minute. We asked for a soup to start, to share and then their "famous" burritos. The soup did not come to start. In fact it threatend to not come at all, we had to ask for it. And then it was plopped down, along with our main course, with such ill-grace (same snotty host) and with nary an apology, that I was tempted to send it back. I really wish I had once we tasted the soup and discovered it to be cold. Awful. The burritos were fine - for what they were - but cost twice as much as they were worth since I can get the same dish (called a "wrap") from just about any deli in the city for $5 ($9 less than this place).

Upshot is: don't waste your money or your time. It was in no way a pleasurable experience. This may be the result of Calgary's short staffing, but this 'dining experience' is one that deserves to go out of business.

Where to start, Monday lunch what a laught...this young kid in all black picked up a dirty napkin by the bar and wiped down the table of four beside me....I ordered with Sweet potato fries and the kitchen thought It would be ok to put on chips instead...
Cost, to hight...Value...still tasting after all this time...
One good point though...some mighty fine chics go their...
Also, if the manager is going to cook...wash your hands, put on a hair net and let the kitchen staff do what they get paid to do..ok

Went there last week and will definitely go back - food tasted fresh and yummy. I liked the fact that the menu wasn't extensive so it didn't take me forever to decide what I wanted. Service was fast and friendly. It's not a huge restaurant so the kitchen doesn't get backed up.

My boyfriend and I have heard so many stories about avocados so we decided to check it out. We were seated quickly... at first our server seemed really nice.. later on our drink were never refilled and everytime we tried to grab her attention she was always found on the phone... when we wanted to pay the bill she was nowhere to be found. We walked out of there and we saw her smoking next to the restaurant. I must say the food was good but the service was horrible.

Waiting time for a seat is short but service overall is satisfactory at best. The sweet potato fries are delicious and can be ordered with most entrees. Chicken burrito is quite tasty and the fajitas aren't too bad either.

Too much money for amount of food served. The beef burrito that was second menu item had way too much of a drippy, mayo tasting sauce. It was also cold. No Mexican restauant would serve what they did. the posale was ok. Service was ok. Would not go back again because of the taste of the entrees for two of us.
