I'd like to reply to what Tom said. Stepho's is an extremely busy restaurant, and the staff have to work their butts off the second they get in the door. The reason a waitress never greeted you was because it's NOT their job. It's the host's. And trust me, they have enough of their own stuff to do. And if you seat yourself, expect to get a response from the staff that resembles annoyance. You DON'T go to a restaurant and seat yourself. It's rude! There are many factors involved in where the hostess will seat you, and maybe the waiter that you sat yourself at probably got 3 tables in a row. Enabling him to not be able to give you the proper service.
I've noticed that in the food industry, customers are not understanding, unforgivable, and sometimes downright rude. If you've ever worked in the food industry, you'd understand. Give them a break! And this is definitely one restaurant where the staff work super hard for not enough money, and hey, you're getting a TON of food for less than $11 a plate. You can buy a bottle of wine for $16, for Christ's sake! If you're not satisfied, go elsewhere and pay $16 for your roast lamb.
The thing some unruly customers don't seem to understand is that when you go into a restaurant, you are REQUESTING someone else's service. They are offering you a service. You want something from THEM. So leave the attitude at home!
