B efore Liverpool House even opened, it was building solid buzz as one of the coolest, little eateries in the city. The restaurant marked a new venture for Joe Beef Owners Allison Cunningham, Frédéric Morin and David McMillan. Joe Beef was one of the more surprising and deserving restaurant success stories in Montreal over the last five years, so foodies everywhere had a culinary hard-on for whatever taste sensation the team would come up with next.
When the place finally opened, it was slightly disappointing to see that Liverpool House stuck so closely to the Joe Beef formula (meaty bistro fare with an unpretentious atmosphere). Not very adventurous, but the restaurateurs certainly can’t be accused of creating a sub-par eatery.

1Liverpool House is actually better than Joe Beef, in my opinion. And to top it off, it's not as difficult to get a table. posted by Sarah Whyte 141 days ago 2Inside, the decor is as sterile as an operating room. Dark wood is the general theme. A random collection of prints decorate the walls. The chandeliers are a great touch. posted by Malcolm Cook 135 days ago 3Sucks the big one. I'm not trying to throw gas on a dormant fire, but this resto obviously leans heavily toward the land of the rising sun. I'm just saying. posted by Richard Dennison 120 days ago | |
