Tribe Hyperclub draws the cream of the DJ crop from around the world. If it's drop, stick, and perspire that you're after, hit Tribe. Big and dance-trancey, this house pumping joint offers the requisite flash-light and hot-cold girl quotient. Certain nights tend more toward hip hop, but there's always some sort of vinyl heating up on the decks. [...]

1Wow, MOntreal does have great clubs, but Tribe was something, the vibe and the people was great, you guys have to hit this place on a thursdays, thats when all the locals are out. amazing club!!! posted by Jimmy 637 days ago 2We decided to give Tribe a shot for the Get Physical tour with M.A.N.D.Y.. Major letdown.
Strike One: the entrance fee advertised for the event had changed from $10 to $25 without warning.
Strike Two: the space itself looks interesting on first sight, with the bar area to the back done floor to ceiling in mirrors. Stay awhile and the already small space begins to seem strangely claustrophobic, not roomy as you would expect mirrors to do. Head out on the dance floor, right?
Strike Three: In front of the DJ booth two huge structural pillars stand, making the dance floor less intimate and the music less enjoyable. Plus people wanting to head to the back bar have to bob and weave across the dance floor. And lastly...
Strike Four: The one appealing feature of the bar, a second floor gallery that over looks the dance floor on three sides, is 'exclusively' for 'V.I.P.s'. With a crowd of teenagers, I was left guessing how they decided who was worthy, other than the DJs and the staff. How important can a 18 year old be anyway?
After about an hour and a half of trying to have a good time, we unanimously decided to head to Parking, for elbow room, cheap drinks and killer tunes. posted by Party Smurf 195 days ago | |
