    Midpoint

West Queen West-ers get another one! Midpoint has set up shop on the otherwise parched stretch midway between the Drake and the Gladstone, and you've got Eric Macedo to thank for the modest addition.

Aiming to raise the standard of late night food offerings along the currently hot West Queen West strip, Macedo, a long time resident in the area, took the recent growth of bars in these parts as an opportunity to fill a void for late night fare. While the downtown core has the infamous hotdog carts on nearly every corner, this strip of Queen Street had nothing more than slabs of Pizza Pizza to satisfy the munchies.

Not bad. I've been by, but I'll wait for the liquor license. But I can see it being a cool nabe spot

With no liquor license, their opening is a little premature. Admittedly, our meal was good.

Any sign of a liquor license yet?

I have only been there once, but the chicken special was tremendous - the sauce was smoky and sweet the meat was fork tender. Still no license.

Dinner for 2 without alcoholic beverages came to $35 after tip (appetizers, mains, and desserts). What a steal! This Japanese eatery is the real deal. We went on Saturday at around 5:30pm and it was fairly quiet so service was quick.

We went for Sunday breakfast. The speed, friendliness and skill of the server was sub par given that it was Sunday morning at 10:00. Seating was fine but the table wobbled even after they tried to fix it by putting a pebble under it??? The pancakes were a "10" but unfortunately were overshadowed by the over-cooked scrambled eggs (breakfast is dining as well!!!). All in all not an overly impressive spot for breakfast but a great location.
PS> The coffee was excellent so we may go back in order to be "seen" while drinking our "cafe lattes".
