You've got to watch closely, but hip little gems keep surfacing on the sketch-stretch of Ossington Avenue between Queen and Dundas. The latest, "Baby Huey," has quietly appeared on the scene, taking over the old Café Lang Van space - one of the suspect Vietnamese karaoke bars that have slowly been losing their foothold along this strip.
Take a ride in the great homey space courtesy of owner Mike Homewood, who will steer you to the nether regions of chill beats at his guileless drinking spot. A dark glass storefront opens up to a small space and a few high-backed arm chairs; evoking, perhaps, shades of Auntie's rec room - which is exactly where Homewood found them - and a fairly DIY interior to keep the crowd real.

1Loved it. great crowd with a great attitude. hospitality was tremendous. the place was filled with mature and well balanced easy to look at people rather than your regularly awkward hipsters that seem to be filling up the previously decent spots on queen west. posted by Noah Barlow 325 days ago 2Loved it. great crowd with a great attitude. hospitality was tremendous. the place was filled with mature and well balanced easy to look at people rather than your regularly awkward hipsters that seem to have filling up the previously decent spots on queen west. posted by Noah Barlow 322 days ago 3Baby Huey's is like someone’s uptown, low-tech living room when the parents are away. posted by Diane Kidd 154 days ago | |
