1Where to begin?! Last night was a night of mixed feelings at Spotlight Live. Myself along with 16 other girls went out to celebrate a bachelorette party. We went to the Male Review show that started at 7:30 and had been advised that we had free entrance to the club after the show. We, however, were not told we would have to wait 2 hours before the club even opened!! We tried to make the most of our time and decided to take a walk around Time Square. To ensure we would not have to wait on line or pay again we spoke with a staff member who told us if we left we would have to pay again. The bachelorette spoke with a guy named Joe who told us not to worry to go and ask for him upon our return to the club. On that end everything worked out great. Joe came to the door and we were all let back in with no problems.
We asked a security staff member where we could go to smoke a cigarette and were told to go the balcony on the Penthouse level. We (5 girls) got on the elevator and when the doors opened up a black security guard became rude and obnoxious with us and this was all before we even said two words to him!! "You can't be here unless you have a bracelet" To which we replied " We do have braclets" His response "Those aren't green bracelets! You all need to go back downstairs" Then we told him we were told to go up there to smoke and he said " That's not happening here tonight! That's not happening." When we asked where we could go and if we should go to the front of the restaurant his reply was the same. Not very helpful so we asked again and he still was unable to provide us with an answer without being rude. We went to the front and asked the staff member at the front door if we could go out for a cigarette and come back in. She also told us to go to the Penthouse and we told her what had happened and she became frustrated with her staff and asked for the head of security. She told us we could go out and since we all still had our bracelets on there would be no confusion.
After having been at Spotlight for 5 hours and spending a good deal of money we decided to head on home and made our way out. We called for our limousine to come pick us up and waited in front of the Sbarro Pizzeria next door to the club. We were not blocking the entrance to the club nor were we loud in any way. Then trouble started again! The same black security guard walked over to us and yelled at us " Okay ladies, if you're going in go back in. If not you need to go stand on the corner!" We told him we were leaving and waiting for our limo which was seconds away and he told us he didn't care, we couldn't stand there and we needed to go wait on the corner. He then approached the bachelorette and asked her if she was the one getting married and she told him yes and that we had spent a good deal of money there and to treat us with a little respect. And he again did not seem to care. What was appalling to me was the fact that we were not in front of the club, we were not in anyone's way and we were not causing any problems and we were being told where to stand on a public street. When one of the girls pointed this fact out he told us that when he throws a party he owns the whole block! He then continued to exchange words with a few of the girls and our limo showed up. He escorted us to the limo, for what reason I am still unsure! and then accused us of being drunk! For someone who thinks they run the club and are so intelligent and well bred he sure didn't realize that the only person drunk was, appropriately, the bachelorette!
A night that should have been fun was almost ruined by a man who's ego is so inflated he doesn't realize that he's really not that important and neither is the club he works for! My only regret was not getting his name so I could address him directly, but I'm sure he knows who he is. There was no reason for us to have been treated the way we were and I only hope that the owners of Spotlight realize what kind of petty, childish, rude, obnoxius, unrefined, and disrespectful security staff they have so that they don't loose more clientele. Some of the girls had considered going back and bringing more people and now that will never happen! Instead everyone we know will be told never to step foot in there ever. posted by Jenny 181 days ago | |
