| 2 repliesFive Napkin Burger
I f it ain't broke, don't fix it. Or so someone should have told them at Nice Matin, where the 5 Napkin Burger was so well received among guests, that owners Simon Oren and Andy d'Amico wanted to give it its own podium from which to shine. The result? A burger menu which features- wait for it- sushi! Options include the Tropical Tuna Roll, a glorified spicy tuna with a layer of banana. Interesting, and not a combination I can say that I have tried. But, as one blogger commented, this IS New York.
Make your inner environmentalist ignore the name, a juicy burger is always worth the extra napkins, just make sure to recycle the next time it's garbage day. The focus here is the meat, with many variations on the original. Expect creation like the Lamb Kofta Burger topped with tomato, onion salad, and green tahini sauce; or the Rarebit Bacon Burger, with white cheddar and bacon. Yet the one that started it all: the ten oz. with comte cheese and caramelized onions, with a rosemary aioli, reigns supreme. Running with the theme, meat hooks are used as light fixtures, and the light colored tiles may make the room feel sterile- like you are in a butcher's shop.

1A bit pricey for a burger... but very good nonetheless. I'll return when the heat dies down. posted by D'arcy 142 days ago 2Nice design but dismal food and related service for medium to large group. Forget this destination for any special occasion unless you're drinking only. And where is everybody on a Saturday night? Peculiar. posted by DS 137 days ago | |
