D ining on fresh farmhouse cuisine newly pulled from the earth is a rare experience to be remembered. It would occur more often if farming were a more prevalent occupation, alas; it has fallen by the wayside in lieu of people’s search for another type of green. That hard-earned cash can be put to good use buying the closest second to a farm fresh meal a person can get in the city. Hundred Acres, the new restaurant by Vicki Freeman and Marc Meyer, promises to serve up the freshest seasonal cuisine this side of the country.
When the pair bought Provence they were hoping to continue with the French theme, but they found the pretentious vibe was turning people away. They were looking for more of a neighborhood-friendly spot, not the special occasion only place they found themselves running. So, renovations took place. With the elaborate wood touches out the window and a new, affordable menu in place, Provence morphed into Hundred Acres.
