F rench cuisine is right up there with KFC in terms of heart-stopping, colon-clogging goodness. Needless to say, it’s a luxury one cannot afford to miss but must indulge in every once in a while, like when you’re feeling self-destructive and incomplete and need to fill the void with fat. Bar Boulud, the new Broadway Street wine bar, is awaiting your sinful order.
Bar Boulud is Chef Daniel Boulud’s brainchild. He has constructed the entire venue around the wines from the décor to the cuisine. The huge sophisticated wine cellar holds bottles exclusively from the French regions of Burgundy and Rhône that have been picked solely for their various harmonies with the dishes on Boulud’s charcuterie menu. Cheeses, pastries, sausages, pates, terrines and much more are available to wash down with the perfect compliment of wine. Rabbit laced with mustard and tarragon and saffron scented fish soup are among the more luscious menu items available.

1Okay, this isn't Paris, but it's as close as you're going to get for a bistro setting. It's charming, great service, good food. My favorite at Bar Boulud is bcharcuterie. Just sit me at a good table... and I'm a happy camper.
Don't expect to get in easily when everyone else is there for the scene. Hit it up on a weekday when you can. posted by Sam Cohen 261 days ago 2Expensive. Pompous. Arrogant. Great food and presentation, excellent wine list, extraordinary service. posted by Amy Thomas 177 days ago 4Hands down, the best meal I have had (in New York). Admittedly, it all comes with a price, but very, very good. posted by John Weber 172 days ago | |
