eb Dumka and Shirley Inouye derive their artistic inspirations from the rhythms of the ocean. Inouye attempts to recreate salt-smoothed ocean shell fragments out of felt. Dumka conjures the ocean flow with the turn of her clay wheel. These ladies are in touch with their environment. Granville Island is the place to be for power-wielding water women. –J.T.
