 t's been delayed by over a year, but the opening of the upscale boutique hotel, Loden, is finally nigh. With a firm date of October 18, travelers to Vancouver can now look forward to a brand new "destination hotel" (a bit of a redundant moniker, but one that fits nonetheless). Located right on the edge of Coal Harbour, the hotel is absolutely stunning. Inspired by the area's dynamic mountains, the design is meant to capture movement and epic vistas with modern architecture.
The 777 guestrooms, designed with a palette of earthy browns, provide the kind of flashy accommodations that you might expect in New York. Therefore, expect some travelling yuppies to intermingle with suited business types, all of whom will congregate at Voya, the hotel's centrepiece restaurant. With Chef Marc-Andre Choquette in the kitchen, Voya will offer West Coast cuisine and booze to modish tourists and trendy Vancouverites. - R.T.
