n an area that seems to be Vancouver’s spa row (there are at least four on Hornby Street outside the Wall Center), Float Relaxation Lounge bills itself as the “anti-spa”. Owner Christine Binder wants her mostly male clients to feel pampered, but not be scared off by past “spa” experiences where they may have sat half-naked in a room awaiting their service. Hence the term “anti-spa”.
The room has a definite masculine feel, but ladies will feel equally at home. There are four reclining chairs spaced throughout the lounge, as well as a private bed in the back for massages. Choose from a pedicure, which begins with a red pepper or herbal soak, a mani, or facial treatment. The bonus here is that all services come with a complementary back or head massage. Curl up under their comfy blankets, lean back in your recliner and prepare to be pampered. You’ll leave not only with perfect feet or hands, but with a whole new attitude. -C.A.
