If you’re tired of HomeSense and it seems the only imports you can get for furniture and home décor items are from Sweden (that was a nice way of saying IKEA), you should head to Provide Home on cozy Beatty Street. The interior of this boutique full of house wares is white like snow and intentionally spartan in set-up. Minimalism goes a long way here – floating white shelves blend into the walls so that products grab the eye instead of fixtures. Large windows allow natural light to flood in and fill this lofty, urban space.
Storeowners David Keeler and Robert Quinnell have filled this airy store with alluring products found during their travels around the globe. The well-culled stock here is targeted for the young and trendy who like their house to act as a gallery for chic, cool accessories. A large proportion of the products here have a Zen-inspired vibe, with calming colours and serene curves found in abundance.
The duo has been everywhere from Cuba to Greece and have a cosmopolitan sense of taste has resulted in some amazingly unique finds you’ll be hard-pressed to get anywhere else. Product lines that can be found at Provide include Niche Modern lighting, blown-glass bowls by Californian artist Caleb Siemon, and luxurious alpaca throws. Stoneware bowls and cups by artist Rina Menardi are one of the stores most sought-after goods.
The store has already developed a local client base, many of whom frequent the store weekly to scope out new stock and chat with Quinnell or Keeler over a cup of free espresso, brewed in a trendy Nespresso machine (which are for sale, of course). If you love modern, stylish home accessories that have been hand-selected with OCD-esque care, then leave the grunt work to these guys and head to Provide to peruse the collection. -D.C.
