    Now that the gentrification disdain has moved from Queen West to Ossington and the "Drake you ho, this is all your fault" graffiti has been waterblasted, Jeff Stober is resuming his restless legacy-expansion, not in the west end at all, but instead in old-money midtown.



    Introducing the second outpost of The Drake Hotel General Store… in Rosedale. Opening on Saturday, December 5, the store is sure to turn a few heads.



    It's a bit jarring walking into the new Drake General Store. It takes a moment to gather your bearings. Here's the same kitschy, light-hearted anything-goes West Queen West retail haven, but in Rosedale.



    Every item is carefully curated and selected, yet it doesn't play into any overarching organizing theme.



    If anything, measures have been taken to reduce the spiritual space between Rosedale and Parkdale.



    That's all well and good, but do hipsters know that Toronto continues north of Bloor?

    The concept is good, just dont expect to sell much of what you take in.
    It's just the Drake photocopying the store idea over to Rosedale. You can find some cool stuff as they only take in stuff they know they will sell and not sit on the racks.

    The Drake Hotel General Store gives me one less reason to visit West Queen West, and since it's right Rosedale, I can easily go and blow cash by the hundreds in one fell swoop. For its square footage, The Drake Hotel Store has a relatively small selection to choose from, but you can be assured that their current offerings are either highly curated or just plain sold out. Such is the nature of the urban General Store.
