There is a lot to do in Vancouver today and you need a guide. Martiniboys is here to help. Keeping our ears to the ground, we've collected all the hot buzz that you need to stay informed about Vancouver. Whether it be a new store opening or hot new weekly, you'll find it here on the best things to do today.

1.) With Vancouver’s social calendar thinning out as we creep closer to the big day, a winter festival is more than welcome. VanDusen Botanical Garden is beginning its Festival of Lights. Oh wait, it features carols, visits with Santa, and a "Candy Cane Express" model train exhibit? I'm starting to think this isn't a Chanukah event at all! Then again, the festival features spectacular garden decoration with over a million lights, and I’m easily distracted! The Festival of Lights is at the VanDusen Botanical Garden, tonight, (Mon. Dec. 21). More on Festival of Lights and other exciting events… here.

2.) Without overlooking its lapses into populist bathos, it's necessary to rescue It's a Wonderful Life from its spot at the centerpiece of untouchable American "classics." As with The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind , uncritical reverence both inflates the film's magnitude and robs it of its most interesting elements. George Bailey's guardian angel reminds him that faith, hope and family are what truly makes life wonderful. It's a Wonderful Life has a staging at Granville Island Stage tonight. 3.) Just imagine creating masterpieces along the French Rivera, that are oh-so-pretty. But, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels watch out for those two con men, trying to schlep their pieces! Directed and choreographed by Max Reimer expect the musical to have all the hijinks that the 1988 movie did! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has a staging at the Vancouver Playhouse, tonight. More killer theatre listings… here.
