Also this week, it's your last chance to indulge in the blur of Cornucopia. From Nov. 8 - Nov. 12, Whistler hosts one hell of a party: The Whistler Cornucopia. There may still be a few tickets left, and you know that the bars will be packed after everyone indulges in some wine sampling. You know where I'll be.

Steak fans can head to Morton’s for a carnivorous fix. Until November 18th surf and turf for two can be had for $119. Sounds pricey, but your plates will be stacked with filets, a choice of crab cakes, scallops or shrimp, vegetables, potato and a dessert (dessert on a separate plate). You can make up for the splurge by hitting Morton’s first Thursday club. November 1st (and every first-Thursday of the month) free mini-steak burgers and wine samples get doled out. More news from our favourite mountain resort (ah yeah, that would be Whistler): Araxi’s Chef James Walt is now offering his version of the 100-mile menu. In case you’ve been asleep for the past year, this means that every ingredient has to be sourced, raised, produced or grown from within 100-miles. With the Pemberton farming community nearby there’s more than just snow to eat here. Try a Qualicum Beach scallop with North Arm Farm corn and braised leeks or the Pitt Meadows lamb and Fraser Valley mushrooms and rainbow chard. Until November 29th the multi-course menu is $25 from Sunday to Friday. Araxi

Award winning Cru Restaurant on Broadway sent one of the first emails of the season to indicate the fall menu change. At 1459 West Broadway, Chef Alana Peckham now lures in diners with miso-marinated sablefish, pan-seared scallops, Moroccan-spiced lamb chops and spiced vanilla bean risotto. There’s also great value in their prix-fixe menu - three courses are just $38. Choose mains such as beef tenderloin, tuna loin or sweet pea risotto.
