    A Pineapple Express/Superbad Crossover Sequel?

Pineapple Express didn't exactly set the box office on fire last weekend (but then, when your primary audience is comprised low-ambition soft-drug addicts, this tends to happen), but that doesn't mean that people aren't talking sequel. In just the first five days of release, Pineapple Express already earned back it's entire production budget and well…people just seem to like this Seth Rogen guy. While not a blockbuster, the movie is a hit that is sure to bring n $100 million domestically. When you put up those type of numbers, people start talking sequels, that's just how Hollywood works. MTV recently asked James Franco if there were any sequel plans for Pineapple Express. His response was definitely surprising.

Franco said that there is a Pineapple Express sequel being discussed, but rather than just being a straight follow up, the movie would be a crossover sequel combing characters from that movie with characters from Superbad. It's a weird concept, but given that the audience for both films is identical, it could definitely work. Don't get too excited though, there is no script yet. The idea is just being kicked around between Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (the writers of both movies) and directors Greg Mottola and David Gordon Green (who might co-direct the double-sequel). Seeing Seth Rogen's outlaw stoner from Pineapple Express get pursued by his slacker police officer in Superbad would certainly be a surreal thrill. Make it happen Apatow…make it happen.
