    Twisted Fork, you have to admit, is a great name for a restaurant. It would also be a great name for a band, or a pasta brand, or a cutlery company, or a jewelry line that only made pieces out of twisted forks. That would be cool.

    The narrow, cozy bistro has a faux-fur banquet along one wall, thin, naked wooden tables, and simple cutlery and dishes. Also along one wall is an eye-catching range of pickled vegetables and fruits.

    The menu feautres the standard French bistro fare – moules frites, duck confit – but also welcome additions like fried frog legs and a gruyère and onion tart with pear walnut chutney. A lavender creme brulee is said to be a large portion: enough for two to share at the end of a romantic, low-key dinner.

    The co-owners, Mike and Andrea Leslie, and co-owners and executive chef, Corey Sullivan, spend seven years running The Wood restaurant in Fernie, one of the busiest ski resorts in BC. (There are photographs from artists based in Fernie on the walls.)

    Good news:
    NO televisions anywhere in sight.
    if I see one in a dining establishment, let alone a bar,
    it's a deal-breaker for me.
    cheers.

    I had heard about this recently opened place and was somewhat leery about a joint on Granville, just off Davie.
    Not exactly an expensively appointed room;
    yet the proprietors understand decorating on a budget;
    nice deep red walls, a changing wallscape from local artists
    but its the attentive service and GREAT food that won me over.
    And cheap too!
    Go.
    Now.

    Complaints?
    The art is hung way too high, making the room feel a bit uncomfprtable,
    spot lighting should be bounced off the beams and walls,
    not off the clientele.

    Food
    hearty share plates from $8
    wines from $7
    and I hear from other visitor the desserts are incredible.
    They offer weekend brunch too.

    see you there!

    I had the most amazing mussels at this place! I have no idea how they make them so good, and how exactly they give you a pound of them for around 13 dollars. The place is so relaxing, and I would feel comfortable in a pair of jeans or an evening gown. Service was great, supper friendly. Defiantly a hidden gem of Vancouver!
