This is probably where the Pad Thai craze began. Being Vancouver’s oldest Thai restaurant, Sawasdee has been dishing out the classics before everyone jumped onto the bandwagon. Sweet, hot and sour with the staple coconut milk can be found in most of the dishes here. - A.C.

Wow what can i say? My friend from the riley park area went to this restaurant today and had a horrible experience. The ironic thing is that she has been going here for a while, and the experiences have been getting worse. I guess she should of gotten the hint. The waiter wouldn't serve her table: no refill for drinks, delayed order, food was purposely made poorly. When confronted the waiter walked away, the owner came out from the back. The owner defended her staff. She argued that my friend and company only leaves a 10% tip and she should leave a 20% tip ( is that the going rate for poor service?), and then she blamed my friends 4 year old daughter for being too messy!!! The poor little girl walked away from the adults with tears building up. Finally the owner bluntly stated that they didn’t want my friends’ business and that she didn’t “fit” the cliental they’d like to see in their restaurant. The only problem I can see the Chinese owner having is that my friend is of East Indian decent. However, my friend and company are very educated moms who dine out once in a while to have a break. And trust me she doesn’t smell :)! She is well mannered and reasonable. When I heard about this I had to help her out and let others know how she was treated. Please all parents and other fair people of all backgrounds boycott this restaurant or at least speak out when you visit next

Great friendly service and our food came in about five minutes.... full of all those Thai flavours in one big messy salty assault on the mouth.

Not subtle at all... way too much lemon grass (and other stuff you cant really eat). Lousy atmosphere. Not a lot of love in this food, guess that why they can churn it out that quickly. we didnt eat all of it and the stuff i brought home i threw away.... there's a good indication of how much we enjoyed.

I wouldnt recommend it... there are so many better options on Main St (Locus, Crave have much better food)
