  • Restaurant Connor Butler

    Ellen Jakobsmeier
For any recently graduated chef, finding non-seasonal work in BC is a tough task that no quality cook should have to endure. If the experience of working a hack job at a Chinese food joint or systematically boiling pasta and peeling potatoes doesn’t break your spirit, one day you too could have the success of Chef Connor Bulter, after whom the resto is eponymously named.

Located just off the beaten path, the menu features fine cuisine that is not exclusively French but most certainly employs formal techniques and methods in preparation and presentation. BC’s plethora of vegheads can also dine here without worrying about nibbling only on a salad that complies with their lifestyle choice.

For a special celebration, the “Surprise” eleven course menu is a favourite even among those who don’t take surprises too well (i.e. those with pace makers susceptible to heart attacks).

The love Chef Butler has for cooking and cuisine is evident in the dishes and the drinks that arrive where you can’t help but support such a good thing. - E.J.

The only thing that I am amazed with is that I had never heard of this place before until my wife did a random search for "fine" restaurants. Frankly, it's been the best restaurant experience for my wife and me since the very first time we went to West.

The food is amazing as often, Chef Butler delivered it to us himself. The wine selection was a bit sparse and that would be my only small nit. The ambiance was fabulous and the dinnerware and stemware were most impressive.

Our two favourites dishes were the "smoked" salmon as well as the sirloin. The sauces were to die for. You can see his French influence in his sauces.

Everything about Restaurant Connor Butler is very impressive. From the Versace dinnerware to the meet and greet with Chef Connor himself, the experience was incredible.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to take fine dining to a whole new level. The cuisine is delecate, flavourful, artistic and whimsical.
A definite go-to spot while in Vancouver.

Restaurant Connor Butler is probably the most looked over place in all Vancouver. I have avoided it simply because the media coverage has been, as I know now, completely ignorant. I have been to most of the biggies-according-to-media restaurants and admitedly enjoyed myself in a few of them but found out the price doesn't exactly tell you about the food or the service. Well, go to Restaurant Connor's place and see for yourself what you have been missing. The menu is down to earth and the service was out of this world. Great drinks, amazing wines, a good time. Never left a review before but had to say something.

Simply cannot understand what all the fuss is over only five or six restaurants in Vancouver. We've been trying out a new one each time we are in town and Restaurant Connor Butler has been there for about a year before we got to it. Last weekend. I had the chicken for one and my husband had the pan seared trout. We were treated like royalty, the food was delectible, fresh, outstanding and the service was amazing. The decor is fun and eclectic and they serve up on these amazing plates. Riedle stemware and water glasses make you feel like someone took some time to make sure everything is perfect. Met the owner/chef Mr.Butler. Young, enthusiastic, humerous, charming; as were the other folks serving us. No reason to look much farther. We'll be going back and back again.

Heard about Restaurant Connor Butler from friends who go there regularly. It wasn't that hard to find as it is next door to my favourite late-night cheese cake place. What a find! The somellier/bartender actually greeted me and my partner and found us a perfect table by the leaded glass windows. The seating is super comfy and we were quickly drinking the house alcoholic concoction which was delicious and then served a grand tray of homemade breads right out of the oven. Unbelievably beautiful table service makes the Chef's cuisine look as great as it tastes. We had the 'Surprise' menu and it was awesome. Chef Butler came out of the kitchen and met us personally and he was a'surprise'. He is young, and well... TALL. He is a music lover like myself and my friend and we quickly found that we were not only enjoying our meal, but also having a really great time in this cozy, crazy restaurant on Granville south. Highly recommend this place.
