 umbers Cabaret is a gay bar that plays top 40 hits and has dancing, bands, karaoke and DJ's on different nights. The staff seems really friendly and energetic and you will probably have a good time. Not the time of your life but a good enough time. If you have nothing to do then check it out cuz you have nothing to lose. Although if you are the type of person who would rather just chug a beer at the local grungy bar then you may want to skip this one. |

Numbers is a pretty generic gay club--nothing much progressive about this place. The atmosphere is very post-70s disco. That being said, it's pretty low attitude, the service is pretty friendly, and it has many sub-levels and little areas to sit and hangout. Most of the time, the music is pretty "tired"--gay anthem hits over and over again. Worse, some nights you have to listen to karaoke for hours. On the other hand, it has Vancouver's only Latin night, which is pretty fun. Vancouver's new and young Mexican gay population makes the last Monday night of the month fun.
If you buy what's on special--you will do ok. But be forewarned that regular pricing on domestic beer is at LEAST $5. A Stella will set you back $6.50 (I'm not kidding). Cover on Saturdays is $5.
The main page says that the average age of the customers is 18-25 (?). Not sure how they calculated that. Although you will see some 18-25ers, the average age is probably mid-30s on most nights.
If you like top 40, and are looking for a mixed 30-40 something, friendly crowd, it's not bad. If you are from San Francisco, Montreal, or New York, you will feel like you went into a time warp back to 1975.

Great place! Very low key and non poseurish. 18-25? Rarely see anyone under 30 there....

The Bartenders and bouncers are really nice, but specially the bussers. Good atmosphere.
