It's a pretty cool place. It's like an old mansion with secret tunnels and stuff. There's two rooms, one is a nightclub. The atomsphere is amazing. I haven't checkedout the otherside, where they have theater shows and movies playing. It looks really cool though.

A group of us checked Maxine's last Friday for the Candy dinner show. Excellent show, great service and food beyond what one would expect. I think the Martiniboys review is out of date because there were girls AND guys dancing and singing on stage. It was all pretty cool. Very classy, classic type of entertainment.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the servers at Maxine's are absolutely and unusually gorgeous, both male and female? Like most waiter-types at restaurants are attractive but seriously this place gets an A for hiring standards.

Best Halloween ever! The Candy Ghoul Show was amazing. The gilrs had the audience dancing at their tables to the Time Warp. Food was excellent. The one thing you'll really be amazed at is the food. You just don't expect it to be as good as it is. It's well priced and top notch. The Haunted House Party was a blast. The whole place was jumping. Thanks Maxine's!

Another perfect evening in Vancouver at Maxine's. We went to Maxine's last Saturday again. So did everyone else. The place was packed. That said, the chef and staff did an excellent job. The new "latin influence" menu is amazing. Bravo Chef Mauricio! Yes, the Candy Girl Show was top notch too, as per usual.

I have to share our experience at Maxine's. I was at Maxine's last night for the first time. A group of us were on our way to The Boathouse for dinner. However, all the restaurants in the area were closed down because a construction crew hit a gas main. Maxine's was affected too BUT they've also got a wood burning oven. So everyone directed us to Maxines. At first, we didn't know what to expect since Maxines is an old mansion with a storied past about ghosts and gangsters. Now it's a restaurant, dinner theater & nightclub. We questioned whether to have the dinner show. In truth, Vancouver isn't known for its local performing talent. Usually, it's just wannabe actors, awful jazz players, lame comedians or worse... DJ's. Ugh! Anyways, we were hungry and there really wasn't any other option. Last night it was the Candy Girl Cabaret performing. What can one say... other than they are hot, sexy and extremely talented. They seriously sang and danced for two hours! As good if not better than anything I've ever seen at the Stanley Theater. Id even put it on par with Broadway tour quality. Throw in that the food and service was great. Even with the place packed and having to make everything in a wood burning oven it all turned out well. After our meal and the show we ordered specialty coffees and went over to the nightclub. I really didn't mind the young girl who was DJ playing. Such an interesting experience, such a delightful surprise, that we never would have experienced had it not been for the gas line being cut. Thanks Maxine's. You truly are the best restaurant, theater, nightclub and everything here in Vancouver. We'll be back soon.

The atmosphere is unparalleled in Vancouver. Right now I'd say Maxine's is the best place for entertainment, ambiance and food. Pop Opera is my next choice as a place to be seen. The Opus Hotel is a close third. I missed it last night but I have to check out Maxine's Thursday Reggae Night next week.

I love Maxine's! My girls and I had a great time at Maxine's. The shows are sweet, as only Candy Girls can be. The food is great. We danced all night long in the Bordello nightclub. Watch out for the Uptown Cosmo martini. It's highly effective. ;)

Simple yet effective! OK. I know Maxine's is all about amazing Broadway & Burlesque talent. However, I happened by there on a Sunday and get this... they had acrobatic pole dancers on stage. It was blast. Even the staff was getting into the act. Just a good time had by all. By far the best Industry Night in town!

Maxine's is a really cool, sexy, unique place! I haven't stepped foot in the building since it was Mescelaro's. So I didn't know what to expect. The entertainment is beyond anything I ever expected, especially for Vancouver. The whole concept takes some getting use to. There's food, beautiful people, music and drinks flying all around you. It's completely suited to hip-sters, upperly-mobile, sexy mature-types. Let the club-kids beat each other up on Granville Street. Maxine's is my new home away from home. Sexy Cougars-rule! ;)

I liked the ambiance, but honestly the food was atrocious, Maxine's hideaway is a very cool idea but very very poorly executed, This is supposedly a restaurant first and foremost, now when i've paid over 200 dollars for me and my girlfriend i expect a good meal, i could have gone to cactus and gotten better fare. On a side note the show was very good, so i'd recomend checking it out for drinks.

We checked out Maxine's for our friend's b-day party. What an amazing place! The food is excellent. The service top notch. The show, we saw the Candy Girls, was incredible. The place gets a little crowded later after the late night show (around midnight) but really thats because it's such a great place. Personally, they should increase prices to reduce the crowds!

This club routinely disgorges noisy drunks onto a residential side street in the west end at 2:00 am. They don't answer their phone at that time so the only way to complain is to the VPD. Please boycott this establishment, which demonstrates so little regard for their neighbours.

i really wanted to like this place, but frankly it was awful. The food was very expensive, which i would be fine with had it been any better than what you could get at your local white spot. The prices were on par with the higher end restaurants in Vancouver but the food was the pits. I had to send my dinner back, which I've only done twice in my entire life. The waitress was great, and the fault of the service was not hers. They obviously were very understaffed and this poor girl was serving almost everybody in the place - and really made a valiant effort. But because they were understaffed there was really only so much she could do. Avoid the scallops at all costs! they were rubbery, not seared (as they were represented to be) the corn with them was worse than your average can of jolly green giant. 2 scallops for 15 bucks! two bad bad bad scallops! the prime rib was about as much as you could expect from a denny's steak and egg breakfast. The bruschetta cost 15 bucks and was essentially some tomatoes (unseeded, unseasoned) on some plain bread. yeah, it sucked. The pizza was fine i suppose, they have a proper wood burning pizza oven. Btw! i didn't order all of this myself, this was a group of us! I would have enjoyed the show more if the food was even slightly edible and i was less pissed off about the food. I was really really let down. Seriously guys, those scallops were crap! The place will not last long if they don't change some things. They are attempting to sell high end food, but they obviously are trying to cut costs and the kitchen staff is lacking in basic skills. If they want to survive they really have to look at their menu. They put all this pretentious stuff on their menu they cannot back up. Honestly, it would be better if they stuck to pizza and other less 'hoity toity" food that they could do well rather than attempt to be wolfgang puck on a shoestring. If they cannot afford quality ingredients, they should be more resourceful and stick to easy fair - really unsatisfied customer with an empty wallet.

Taking the reviewer Jennifer's comment to heart, Maxine's will be adding male dancers on the stage. Thanks Jennifer - what a great idea.
