ell the boys from Glowbal Group (Glowbal, Coast, Sanafir, Italian Kitchen) have done it again. And they’ve even crossed a bridge this time. The group have signed the lease at 1850 West Fourth, in the spot where Chianti’s served its last pasta plate a month ago.
There’s speculation as to the concept, as Glowbal doesn’t want to rush into a decision they’ll regret. They are tossing around the idea of another Italian Kitchen (their first opened this past summer on Alberni), but nothing’s set in stone yet.
Kits is changing. When I lived there during university, it was a rather modest place where heading right from the beach to dinner was the norm. Now I have to dress for dinner, as the scene is much more formal. My neighbourhood and I have both grown up. We’ve both had enough of our days of tofu burgers and cut offs. -C.A.
