During the lunch hour, power suit diners are abound discussing the latest news in biz while downing oysters, cocktails and cocktails – all on the rocks. The demure dining environment full of dark wood, “antique” art and low lighting is a bit dated, but adds to the charm of a classic steak house. Located downtown for over 30 years, this is an excellent choice for an evening dinner date to revamp the romance or get in the good books with your father-in-law. - E.J.

3 Reader Reviews | i have been going to Hy,s since 1967 and have not been anywhere as good as there . I have eaten around the world and still it,s my favorite place to eat as a matter of fact in twenty minutes thats where i will be with my cheese bread and fillet and my great bottle of wine .I personally knew Hy and what a great guy he was he is so missed I am sure by a lot of people . I love the one in Hawaii and Calgary to but the dim lighting in vancouver makes it so special. Dont ever close. Marlene

The cheese bread rocked and the steaks and service were grrreat. Seeing Jim Pattison sitting at a table across from us by himself eating a salad looking distressed was kinda creepy though and he's even uglier in person than he is on TV. Ha ha....LOL..It almost made me lose my appetite! As for the restaurant itself, we would give it 3.5 stars and we would recommend the oysters rockafeller on the appy's list. Delicious! We'll go back again but not for awhile! It's a reasonable value but not the kind of place most people can afford to eat at often.
