Desserts include clever modern tweaks, such as adding chocolate to an already excellent almond financier. Occasional inconsistencies in the food are a problem, and service can be surprisingly amateurish in an otherwise professional operation. However, the quality of cuisine purveyed at this Pacific seafood outpost could easily please the pickiest West Coast palates.

9 Reader Reviews | its interesting that the reiewer here seems to be ok with inconsistent food at more than 50.00 per person dinners. I'm sorry.. at that price this food should be amazing. freakin' amazing. So amazing that you should get on your knees and thank the chef's mother for having that child. People are way to willing to accept mediocre food in a 'fancy' restaurant. There is a reason the staple great restaurants like chambar are still around.. 'cuz they are good.

The atmosphere is incredibly unique!!!The halibut I had was fantastic including the side dishes. The pomme frites were amazing. I enjoyed it so much that I'm going back soon.

After all the chatter about this place, I expected more. It was just...OK. The chicken and prawn gyozas to start were tasty, but the romaine salad that we got with them was nothing to write home about. The mains were...OK. I went away not really understanding what all the fuss was about. If I want a great westcoast dining experience, I'd go back to Blue Water Cafe. I don't think I'll ever go back.

Made reservations 48 hours in advance. Confirmed day of booking. Left them my phone number. Traffic terrible and arrived 20 minutes late. They were proud to announce they gave away the table. No point in phoning to see if we were enroute!! Forced to wait in bar area for one hour to wait for new table.
Eventually got table. Pasta with prawns an inedible plate of congealed luke warm goo smothered in garlic.
Other diners vegetables cold.
Great atmosphere does not make up for bad service and horrid food.
I would rank this less than one star
A new version of Lift restaurant. Cool atmosphere, big attitude and bad food. Now, a year of so later it is dead!! Goldfish will suffer the same fate

C'mon Rick Levine, your review has compromised your credibility. When it comes to Goldfish, the reviews from customers are rolling in - and they are very consistent. This food will not only NOT SATISFY the pickiest of eaters, it might also not satisfy the average consumer.
It's expensive here. And I agree, the decor is great. But the food is really terrible, lacking both in taste and quality. Vancouver is packed with better restaurants and this place will not give you value for the money. I never complain about price when I go to places like Diva at the Met or Bishops because I feel contented that I got what I paid for.
I ate here on Sunday and the food was bland - the Cactus Club is even better than this. If you want more reasons, I posted them on dinehere.ca
