he former Ricky’s All Day Grill at 1995 Lonsdale Avenue got a few touch-ups and has recently opened as a duo Fatburger and Ricky’s joint, the first of its kind in Canada and the first location in the country to boast Fatburger’s delicious meat-bun piles.
With humble beginnings in the kitchens of Ms. Lovie Yancey, Fatburger was the appropriate name given to the fattest beef stacks anyone had ever seen. So enjoyed were her hamburgs, Yancey was encouraged to share her gift with the world and *bless her* she did.
Originally opened in 2002, the 1,900-square foot Lonsdale space was the 50th Ricky’s location in Western Canada. According to Frank Di Benedetto, the union of Ricky’s and Fatburger is ideal: both hinge upon the concept of the classic diner, with a stellar menu to match.
"Now our loyal Ricky's customers can still have the breakfast they insist upon, and also enjoy the tastiest burgers in town. The arrangement will keep them satisfied for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and keep the restaurant busy all day long,” says Di Benedetto.
Ok so you got your Fatburgers, your Kingburgers, your Turkeyburgers and Chicken Sandwiches and for those who missed breakfast, a few of Ricky’s famous breakfast items will be available throughout the day. Hearty and delicious, the burger toppings run your standard ketchup, mustard and relish but hit the ball out of the park with bacon, egg and chili.
