It seems like the far-reaching Green Train has finally passed through the Commercial Drive SkyTrain Station. Ethical Bean, the guilt-free fair trade coffee supply company, opened up a quaint and convenient Ethical Bean Express in the station on April 22nd. The fact that the opening date just happened to coincide with Earth Day was no accident. Co-founder Lloyd Berhardt wants to raise the environmental awareness of transit riders countrywide and has already committed to opening a second Ethical Bean Xpress on the Granville platform this summer. Since the java hut purchases every carbon credit they expend in bean travel and operations the chain’s footprint stays neutralized. The whole operation boasts 100% fair trade and organic everything on top of their neutralized footprint. All this green stuff has become such a marketing trend that I’m afraid it might soon become passé. For now though, the Green Train is thriving and showing no signs of slowing down. Enjoy your guilt-free coffee on your environmentally friendly commute to work. –J.T.

Sad to say, I know these guys. Don't buy an ounce of the dark brown matter that oozes from their putrid mouths, that they try to pass off as coffee!

These people are dishonest, cheating, "treat-people-like-crap", dirty, dirty business men who are using the "ethical" angle to dig their grubby little paws into your pockets. Don't do it! Support a company with a real cause, someone who puts their money where their mouth is, check out: www.saltspringcoffee.com. I don't work for either of these companies, but know enough about both to tell you that Ethical Bean are lying scum, and while Salt Spring Coffee is far from perfect, they are at least honest about who they are, plus, the coffee actually tastes like someone who knows what they're doing roasted it, I guess that's the difference that several more years in the market can make.

One of the Ethical Bean owners was caught up in a huge HR scandal several years ago and now he wants to keep a low profile because of the possible labour issues this would cause, seeing as Translink are all union, and he was recorded trying to screw over a Union. Surprised no one caught onto that. OOOPS, someone at Translink screwed up? Really?

Bottom Line: DON'T SUPPORT THESE GUYS. There are a million better options right there on Commercial Drive.
