Before Columbus, it was thought everyone lived on the edge. Some people still subscribe to that living on the edge life philosophy, and get their kicks with caffeine. These beans, directly from the Renaissance explorer’s eponymous Colombia (among other South American and African coffee farms), come courtesy of local roaster 49th Parallel that deals directly with the farmer to ensure 100% fair trade.

While the Smith Street location has a rustic vibe, this new Cambie & Broadway spot employs an upscale, sophisticated aesthetic, but with the same warm smiling faces. Look for breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes, and a delicious weekend brunch. -MBO
