Chambar's menu, created by Belgian chef Nico Schuermans (London's Savoy Hotel) is Belgian with a dash of innovation, distinctiveness, and eccentricity. It kicks off with three moule frites: the Coquotte ($17) cooked with white wine cream sauce, bacon, veg and garlic; Vin Blanc ($17) cooked in white wine, leek, garlic and red onions; and the wildly popular Congolaise ($17), bathed with tomato, chili with a hint of coconut cream and lime ($17).

For dinner, try roasted halibut with procuitto (about time that the pig and the fish finally got together), plum jam, and chimay emulsion. Or perhaps the Canadian accented quail caramelized with maple syrup ("stand on guard for thee…") and orange water, served with crabapples, pistachios, and roasted potatoes. A true Belgian rendition of the Waterzoi tunisian aux fruits de mer is served in up fine style: a bouillabaisse of sea creatures in a tomato, saffron, orange, and basil base on black rice. Should we even discuss the rose water creme brulée? I knew that Belgium was good for more than Van Damme. - R.L.

Dined here with my daughter before the Celine show. Place was packed but the service remained excellent in spite of the full house (seemed like nearly every table was off to the concert); food itself was well-prepared and delicious. We'll be back -- thank you for a wonderful evening!

We had booked for Saturday night at 9pm, were greeted and told it's just gone 9 and it will be a little bit longer before we get our table.
Ordered a Vodka Tonic with the bartender who decided to upgrade it from the house vodka [Wyborowa which I love] to Belvedere Vodka & Tonic, it's called loading/pumping the bill.
Manager apologised about the table delay and said appetisers & a round of cocktails were on him, after prompting.

Got our table at about 9:45, I guess the management/owners don't mind over booking, after all, you're stuck once you're there.

Paid the bill, my guests asked to see it as they wanted to make sure of what they were paying for - who can blame them.

Waiter brought over another copy of the bill and gracefully said 'sorry but he had screwed it up and thrown it away...'
Low and behold more fun as my guests noticed that they'd charged us for the complimentary drinks...

Manager recredited my card saying that I'd complicated it all by paying when my guests had wanted to see the bill and pay part of it.

I guess that seals the deal for me and I'll ensure that I don't complicate things in future by not paying, or consuming anything at Chambar, oh last thing, my wife was told a smile would help by the staff member that brought the coats, nice.

Make sure you bring your platinum visa, as the drinks run $10 a pop. Very limited menu, but the food was good. Major complaint in that at this price would expect a table that didn't fall when you leaned on it.
