ancouver, land of infinite beauty is oft-celebrated for its outdoor splendor. Sadly, the nightlife has long reflected the serenity of the environment. Lately the word on the street suggests a new current circulating through the mountainous air, one that pulsates with cosmopolitan excitement and vigorous urbanity.
Enter Chambar, a glowing gem of a restaurant on the dark edge of Beatty Street. Since its opening, Chambar has steadily become one of the busiest places to eat, drink and be ridiculously merry. Chambar has all the nighttime sojourn criteria covered. The staff is dynamic, knowledgeable and timely, oozing an effortless, first-rate service; the fact that they're runway stunning doesn't hurt either. Chambar's crowd, a stellar mix of artists, filmies and 30-something career types mingle and schmooze nonchalantly and with haphazard charisma. “I love it here!” purrs one such woman, a key player in the local fashion industry. “It’s definitely the next Vancouver atmosphere!”
The space, a provocative and open environment designed with exposed brick, wood beams, and leather banquettes, welcomes and soothes. Broken up into three distinct rooms (The Lounge, the Stripe Room, and the Dining Room), you’ll experience something a little different wherever you sit. Hint: make your way to the dining room for one of the sexiest views in the city.
The Chambar experience begins awash in an array of colourful Belgian elixirs (because no one does elixirs like Belgium (what the hell is chocolate?)). Order anything from a pink peppercorn daiquiri to a blue fig martini. The beer card boasts over 40 Belgian brews, suchs as Westmalletripel, Abbaye des Rocs, and oddities like the cilantro infused beer.

We had booked for Saturday night at 9pm, were greeted and told it's just gone 9 and it will be a little bit longer before we get our table.
Ordered a Vodka Tonic with the bartender who decided to upgrade it from the house vodka [Wyborowa which I love] to Belvedere Vodka & Tonic, it's called loading/pumping the bill.
Manager apologised about the table delay and said appetisers & a round of cocktails were on him, after prompting.
Got our table at about 9:45, I guess the management/owners don't mind over booking, after all, you're stuck once you're there.
Paid the bill, my guests asked to see it as they wanted to make sure of what they were paying for - who can blame them.
Waiter brought over another copy of the bill and gracefully said 'sorry but he had screwed it up and thrown it away...'
Low and behold more fun as my guests noticed that they'd charged us for the complimentary drinks...
Manager recredited my card saying that I'd complicated it all by paying when my guests had wanted to see the bill and pay part of it.
I guess that seals the deal for me and I'll ensure that I don't complicate things in future by not paying, or consuming anything at Chambar, oh last thing, my wife was told a smile would help by the staff member that brought the coats, nice.

Make sure you bring your platinum visa, as the drinks run $10 a pop. Very limited menu, but the food was good. Major complaint in that at this price would expect a table that didn't fall when you leaned on it.
