oonlighting as an art gallery by day, Canvas Lounge transforms into an ultra-chic club spot by night! How do they do this? One could imagine liquor licenses are hard to come by, and what if the precious pieces of art, typically cordoned off in stuffy archaic institutions, were to suffer a fatality (say a glass of red wine)? I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.

Canvas Lounge opened its doors to the public as a lounge four days a week (Thu. to Sat) where Van city residents can schmooze and amp up their artistic cred by acquiring artistic conversation pieces for their home. They offer entertainment, art, cuisine, and the perfect nightlife experience for party-goers (again, largely due to that coveted liquor license - when's the last time you had this much fun in a gallery?). They also host private parties, such as corporate events, charity, and special occasions.
During club nights, the lounge functions as a restaurant with menu items such as glazed pork tenderloin with ginger red wine applesauce, and bisque poached lobster. Impressive enough, their dessert menu is almost the same size as the dinner menu. I can’t say I don’t have my eye on the passion fruit tart, or ginger crème brulee.
The place still features art exhibitions, but has simply expanded to allow the public to simultaneously get arty and party. It was only a matter of time before art, restaurants, and clubs combined into an all-in-one spot for the public. Truly one of the most innovative (and profitable) ideas a curator/club owner could have fulfilled.
