The service was especially cheerful, maybe too much so. I almost felt like I was trapped in a Cactus Club Café: so many dazzling white smiles, so much giggly laughter. Why, oh why, do servers insist on being so extra-bubbly? It just looks exhausting. However, the drinks came promptly and the food followed shortly after, so I had no cause for complaint.
The atmosphere is urban and seems to be perpetually full. Retro décor mixes modern with the good ol’ days. The neon letters over the bar read, “Whiskey for the men and beer for my horses," while vintage pictures of happy 70’s faces adorn the walls. The setting didn’t knock my socks off or offer anything especially unique, but the other patrons, in their ultra-hip outfits, added to the furnishings quite nicely. - L.H.
