Absoluetly, beyond any doubt, the worst peice of steak I have ever had. It was cold, tough, and indigestible. However, this not unusual for Vancouver.

"I'll only put up with that at a Cactus Club with my 15-year-old....

This is the kind of thing that will keep Vancouver a wanna-be urban centre...."

Wow, you're an idiot. I've been to Boneta probably 20 times and have always had incredible food and service. Sounds like you camped with tea while 10 people waited at the door for you to go pick up your 15 year old to continue making Vancouver a wanna-be urban centre. Way to contribute! Why don't you visit some urban centers like New York, London or Paris and see how your hen party does when they need your table. Boneta is awesome for Van.

The food was great and the cocktails fantastic! My only complaint--which unfortunately becomes very significant and tends to cancel out most of the experience at Boneta--was a server all too anxious to get us out. We were a party of 4 who spent a pretty good chunk of change the Friday night we went in. We arrived very early as this was a post-work get together, so all the more reason to cut us some slack. Service was impeccable until we reached dessert stage. Suddenly our server was interrupting conversation--at one point even standing at the end of our table, interrupting us to bring the check and tell us she needed us to leave as there was a party of 10 coming in. I'll only put up with that at a Cactus Club with my 15-year-old....

I really enjoy Boneta in Gastown. Great location and wonderful food. The bartender and front door staff are warm and friendly. Unfortunately, upon our last visit we were served by an incredibly unfriendly waitress, maybe she was having an off night. Otherwise, it's fab and we've just made a reservation for 15 people.

I had high expectations of Boneta as I live directly across the street from it and so was looking forward to dining there. The decor is lovely with high ceilings and funky mirrors and lighting. However, I found the seating cramped and the atmosphere incredibly noisy. My friend and I, sitting directly across from each other at a tiny table for 2, could hardly hear ourselves talk above the piped-in music and the other guests. The food was good although mine showed up only luke warm as my friend's meal took longer to cook. Portions are tiny. Be prepared. Dessert was a hugh disappointment. $9 for rice pudding that was 1/8 cup of rice pudding with a few slices of apple on top and "orange salad" which consisted of 3 pieces of mandarin orange. Very pathetic. We complained of the portion size of the dessert and the manager only laughed at us. Unfortunately, I have no intention returning to dine there again.

The previous reviewer obviously has no palate OR taste. Excellent food, wonderful service, gorgeous room--you can't do better in Vancouver, and Boneta would hold it's own anywhere, really.

Miles and miles better than Chill Winston, Chambar, Cassis.

I'd only heard raves about Boneta and I wasn't disappointed--I'll be adding my raves, as well.

As is often with this type of Wankouver joint, there is much pomp in the opening and little substance in the eating. A rather uninteresting wine list greets you, so have a cocktail instead. The appetizers haven't reached a state of balance (too much mackerel, too little fava bean) with odd pairings of flavours. The mains were ok and if you have a choice, pick the crispy pork belly.

Dessert is the weakest link so enjoy the earlier courses and avoid the pound cake!

The room itself while generous in its double height ceiling and its natural charm is overburdened by bad art and oddly placed mirrors on the ceiling.
