  • Banana Leaf

    Review by Scott Tavener
After losing a bet, I ate a couple bites of a Maple Leafs hat. Perhaps it would have been better if it were a Banana Leaf, um, hat. Offering Malaysian fare in a smooth, contemporary, wooded surrounding, Banana Leaf boasts more than just leaves (also, more than just bananas). A perennial "best of" frontrunner, this joint specializes in pan-Asian bites done with a deft hand. Beware of peels. - S.T.

OK, first off, you do have to be in the mood to eat malaysian as unlike Thai there is a sameyness to all the dishes. They are tasty, though, just think of it as not quite Thai. Also, not on the menu but a must order is the deep-fried banana w/ ice cream (two can share unless you're one of those beached whales who need to race to the future diabetes finish line). So leave room for that. I love the Nasi and the Mee Goreng...then again that's just me.
